Hallowen Quiz Night

WAS HELD ON OCTOBER 22th Saturday 2011

Adelaide Branch Club Room

THE NASHYS HALLOWEEN QUIZ AND GAMES NIGHT.
On Saturday the 22nd October at the Adelaide branch clubrooms we held our
Halloween Quiz and Games night. It was a great success ,we had over
one hundred people attend with nearly everyone in Halloween fancy dress.

We had a variety of lovely witches, mummies, draculars, little red hiding hood
and her pet wolf, and even the sugarplum fairy, and an headless man,
draculars bride and her mummy just to name a few.
The detail and the effort gone into all those costumes was amazing,
really well done to all. By the comments we recieved at the end of the night,
everyone had a fantastic time with great fun.
Nearly everyone went home with prizes won on the games and raffles.

We would like to thank Robbo for being our MC and the Photograph man
for the night, he did a great job. We want to also thank Frank de-Ruiter
and his family who came along on the night selling the Raffle tickets.
A Special thank you goes out to Dale Howard and Sue Freene for their
very generous donation of $450, the profits from the Entertainment book.
Thanks also goes out to Gordon Johnson for his donation of $20.
Also to Trevor Robinson who gave us his bag of loose change he had
left over at the end of the night $13. We want to also thank Stretch
and Carol (Adelaide Branch) for their very generous donation of bottles of wine.

Last of all we thank the Ulysses Adelaide branch and Torrens Valley branch
for their donation of a bottle of Whiskey each. The aim of the night was to
have a good night with lots of fun and at the same time raising money for
kids living with Cancer. The sum you all raised on the night was $1,817.
lyn and myself will be going to the Womens and Childrens Hospital
shortly to meet with Chris Mc Dermot to present him with a cheque for
the Little Heroes Foundation. We want to thank All those Ulysses members,
friends, and their families who came along on the night and supported us.

" JAILHOUSE ROCK "  New Years Eve Party Weekend REPORT To follow.

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE NASHYS.
80 people attended our New Years Eve Jailhouse Rock Party at Gladstone Jail
which was a great number. A number of people braved the 37 degrees of heat
and came on their bikes, the rest followed in their cars, arriving at the jail later
on in the afternoon. After everyone had arrived and chose their cell
accomodations it was time to relax, cool down, and socialise.
Many people then had their photos with the prisoner I.D, board officially making
them a Gladstone Jail prisoner, this was popular and fun
and created a lot of laughs.
At 6.30pm we all headed to the Tin Shed for Dinner. After a lavish two course
meal it was time to dance the night away, to our great Rock and Roll band,
(Rockin on). They always put on a great show.
The girls and some of the men looked great in their Rock and Roll outfits,
even the " The Little Prisoner" (NORM) playing his guitar joined in on the dance
floor, and later joined the band on the stage.
Some of the girls and guys risked back injuries by dancing the LIMBO rock.
In the interval we had the Raffle with some really good prizes,
(We raised $190 which will be donated to The Little Heroes Foundation,
Children living with Cancer, at the Womens and Childrens Hospital.
Geraldine and Ross Murray won the giant teddybear wearing a Tee shirt with
the logo When I grow up I want to be a Ulyssian. This prize was for the first
person to buy a ticket to our event. The highlight of the night for Lyn and I
was when 12 members of the Ulysses Choir led by Sue Freene sang a tribute
song to us for recognation to all the work we have done not only the
New Years Eve Party but the Quiz Nights we have organised over the past years.
This was a lovely suprise and very moving for us both.
When Midnight struck, the band played Ald Lang Syne, so we all linked arms
with each other in a big circle and sang Ald Lang Syne followed by a version
of the Hokey Kokey it was great fun everyone hugging and kissing each other.
The fun never ended there, at half past midnight " Tony" who runs the jail did
his GHOST tour around the jail for around an hour. We were very suprised how
many attended to do the tour after such an hectic nights partying. Although
the tour was very spooky it was interesting with all of Tonys tales he had
to tell of events that have happend in the jail in the past. It was not long after
that the steam had run out of most of us and it was time to return to our cells
for what was left of the  night. Sunday morning after breakfast,
we all packed up said our Goodbyes and then head off for home.
By all the comments we recieved over the weekend from everyone,
they all had a fantastic time and was glad they came.
We want to thank Graham and Inge Cairns for leading the ride up to
Gladstone Gaol in such HOT weather.
Thanks also to the band of helpers who assisted us over the weekend.
Thanks also to everyone who came along and supported us for the weekend.
Thanks also to Adrian Gray and members of his band,
for a really good nights entertainment.
So again A HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone.
From Lyn and Steve.
